Adaro Logistics
Led by PT Adaro Logistics (“AL”), the logistics segment supports the Group’s vertically integrated operations to maintain operational excellence and supply reliability by ensuring that coal arrives at customer locations according to the agreed schedule, specifications, and quality. AL currently owns various businesses ranging from coal barge transportation and ship transshipment, fuel oil transportation and management, river channel management and dredging, multipurpose terminal and stockpile management, stevedoring, to shipyard operations.
The following are the details of the operational activities of the business units under AL, which are divided into three segments:
- Dry and Liquid Bulk Marine Transportation - sea/river transportation activities for dry and liquid bulk cargo, namely coal and fuel oil, which are operated through MBP and HBI.
PT Maritim Barito Perkasa (”MBP”)
MBP operates sea/river transportation by delivering coal from loading ports in Kelanis, Muara Tuhup, and Teluk Timbau in Central Kalimantan, and Gandus and Lematang in South Sumatra, to transshipment points in Taboneo, South Kalimantan, and Musi Banyuasin, South Sumatra, as well as shipping coal directly to customer locations throughout Indonesia.
As of June 2024, MBP's fleet consists of 70 barges, 72 tugboats, and three self-propelled barges (SPB) with a coal carrying capacity of more than 771,000 tonnes. MBP also owns seven transshipment facilities consisting of four floating cranes and three floating transfer units (FTU) with a capacity of 222,000 tonnes per day. As of YTD June 2024, MBP transported 34.6 million tonnes of coal for the Group and PT Adaro Minerals Indonesia Tbk using both its own barges and third-party barges.
PT Harapan Bahtera Internusa (”HBI”)
HBI performs sea/river transportation to deliver fuel oil from the IBT loading port on Pulau Laut to discharge locations in Kelanis and Muara Tuhup. In addition to serving fuel oil transportation, HBI also conducts bunkering activities for barges in Kelanis. In running its activities, HBI owns three fuel oil transportation barge (FOTB) units and three self-propelled oil barge (SPOB) units. As of YTD June 2024, HBI transported 325 million liters of fuel oil for the entire Group and PT Adaro Minerals Indonesia Tbk.
HBI performs various shipping administration and management tasks, such as general barge condition surveys for all barges entering the Kelanis loading area to ensure that the barges are ready to be loaded and free from potential contamination, as well as tugboat assistance services for the entry and exit of barges at the Kelanis Special Coal Terminal.
- Port & Terminal - management activities for onshore and floating liquid bulk and dry bulk port operations, which are operated by IBT, IMPT, TCU, and AL.
PT Indonesia Bulk Terminal (“IBT”)
IBT provides coal and fuel oil handling services at the Pulau Laut terminal. Coal handling services include coal unloading and loading onto ships, temporary storage, and coal blending services. IBT has 8 (eight) stockpile areas with a total port throughput capacity of up to 12 million tonnes per year, depending on the coal calorie type. IBT features facilities supported by functions that assist in detecting and separating metal contaminants in coal before it is loaded onto ships. IBT also provides fuel oil handling services which include unloading fuel oil into four fuel oil tanks with a storage capacity of 80,000 KL, fuel oil tank management, and loading fuel oil onto ships through two jetties with a loading capacity of 1.5 million KL per year. In fuel oil management, IBT also performs pure diesel blending with FAME using in-line blending facilities.
PT Indonesia Multi-Purpose Terminal (“IMPT”)
IMPT operates by managing a floating terminal in the coal transshipment area in Taboneo, South Kalimantan. IMPT obtained a Port Business Entity (BUP) concession from the Banjarmasin Port Authority and Harbormaster Office in September 2018 and commenced commercial operations in Taboneo in May 2019. IMPT prioritizes safety, security, and maritime protection at the port according to environmental permit guidelines and International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) certification, which has been maintained since 2015.
PT Terminal Curah Utama (“TCU”)
In July 2023, TCU commenced fuel oil tank maintenance activities within the IBT operational environment. TCU is a joint venture company between IBT and PT Pelindo Multi Terminal (”PMT”).
PT Adaro Logistics (”AL”)
AL is a sub-holding company that handles barge-to-barge transfer (B2B) facilities, an activity of transferring coal from small barges sized less than 5,000 dwt to large barges sized 10,000 to 15,000 dwt, in North Kelanis. Furthermore, to support the increase in mining production volume, AL is in the process of building a second B2B facility in North Kelanis.
AL also provides fuel oil tank management services, for both operations and maintenance, within the Group's mining areas. Currently, AL owns four fuel oil tanks with a capacity of 4,200 kiloliters at KM 0 of Kelanis Port and three fuel oil tanks with a capacity of 4,400 kiloliters at KM 73 on the AI hauling road, and is currently constructing two fuel oil tanks with a capacity of 2,500 kiloliters each in Kelanis.
- Marine Services are supporting services for maritime activities such as dredging, stevedoring, and shipyard operations, which are run by SDM, SMT, PBMM, BGN, and SMT.
PT Sarana Daya Mandiri (“SDM”) and PT Sarana Multi Talenta (“SMT” )
Marine service activities in the form of channel maintenance through dredging activities are carried out by SDM and SMT. SDM conducts routine maintenance dredging to maintain the width and depth of the shipping channel at the Barito river mouth every year. SMT performs dredging in key logistics areas such as the Ujung Rumput channel and Kelanis Port using Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) vessels and their professional experts.
PT Puradika Bongkar Muat Makmur (“PBMM”)
PBMM offers stevedoring services in Taboneo and Kelanis to ensure operations run in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations.
PT Barito Galangan Nusantara (“BGN”)
BGN is a subsidiary of AL that operates a shipyard business on the Barito river. BGN plays a vital role in ensuring the availability of reliable vessel maintenance facilities, primarily to support the transportation operations run by MBP and HBI.
